The project, which represents a significant new addition to the campus, included the demolition of two antiquated buildings, and replacement with a state-of-the-art Physical Education and Sports Complex.
The new ADA- and Title IX-compliant building is of masonry construction for long-term durability. The project includes a new dedicated classroom for instruction of nutrition, health and fitness related topics and testing requirements, a weight-training room, secure lockers, restrooms and showers, equal team rooms for girls’ and boys’ sports, coaches’ quarters, athletic trainers’ workroom, extensive storage, and a large general purpose “great room” for use with gymnastics, wrestling or large group circuit training during inclement weather. The project also features accessible outdoor restrooms for pool and stadium users. The last phase of construction will entail the restoration of the adjacent exterior multi-purpose sports courts.
